My Favourite Version Of “There Is A Hope” Is Faroese

And it was performed by legendary Faroese musician, songwriter and singer M.C. Restorff, with some help from a friend of mine, Jenny Old, and a all male choir. I especially love the instrumental interlude where the pensive strings really capture both the place of doubt into which or from where the lyrics speak, and the hope beyond that place. The lyrics, as you might know, are incredibly good and they were masterfully translated by none else than my dad, Zacharias Zachariassen.

The song features on M.C. Restorff’s latest album, Sanganna Veingir (“The Wings of Song”), which can be bought here.
